My dearest gifted Nina,
I trust you’ve taken my recent lesson to heart: that I am not to be trifled with. No secrets and no insubordination will be tolerated by a childe of mine. With the upcoming Ashen Ball, I expect you to be a model daughter of society. You will charm and please our clan and Prince or I will see to it your place in this beautiful world is lower than the scum you come from. In addition to making yourself the newest darling of Toreador society, I want you to take special pains to impress Alastair — I’m sure you’ve met him by now. By whatever means necessary, take his blood and bring me your vision of vitae. Let no one else see what you draw or I will seek a punishment worse than I rendered when you hid your gargoyle pet from me.
